Job summary

Waggoner Engineering, Inc. is seeking a Site Civil Engineer to join our team in Birmingham, AL or Huntsville, AL. You’ll lead civil/site projects from concept through design, coordinating with architects, developers, and internal teams.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering, an active PE license (or within six months), and at least four years of relevant experience. Proficiency in Civil 3D and strong communication are essential for success.

• Active PE license or ability to obtain within six months.
• Minimum 4 years of civil/site design experience.
• Strong grading, drainage and utility design experience.
• Proficiency with Civil 3D and standard design tools.
• Experience coordinating with multidisciplinary teams and clients.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage civil/site projects from concept through design and delivery.
• Prepare and oversee design for grading, drainage, utilities, and site layout.
• Perform and review engineering calculations, plans, specifications, and reports.
• Serve as engineer of record and ensure QA/QC on all deliverables.
• Coordinate with architects, developers, and internal disciplines to support integrated delivery.
• Manage project scope, schedule, and budget to ensure on-time, on-budget performance.
• Mentor junior engineers and designers.
• Participate in client meetings and support proposals.

Waggoner Engineering, Inc. is seeking a Site Civil Engineer to join our team in our Birmingham, AL or Huntsville, AL office. Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage civil/site projects from concept through design and delivery
• Prepare and oversee design for grading, drainage, utilities, and site layout
• Perform and review engineering calculations, plans, specifications, and reports
• Serve as engineer of record and ensure strong QA/QC on all deliverables
• Coordinate with architects, developers, and internal disciplines to support integrated project delivery
• Manage project scope, schedule, and budget to ensure on-time, on-budget performance
• Mentor and support the development of junior engineers and designers
• Participate in client meetings and support proposal development as needed

What you'll need

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field
• Active PE license required (or ability to obtain within six months if applicable)
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in civil/site design, land development, or civil infrastructure
• Strong experience with grading, drainage, and utility design
• Proficiency in Civil 3D and standard design tools
• Experience coordinating with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders
• Strong communication and organizational skills

Preferred:

• Experience working with both private development and public-sector clients
• Familiarity with local permitting and regulatory processes
• Experience supporting business development or client relationship management
