Job summary

Ashland School District 5 is seeking an Education Assistant - Special Education Site Based at Ashland High School’s Student Services. This 0.75 FTE, 6-hour/day probationary role provides instructional support in LRE settings under a licensed teacher.

Responsibilities include assisting with IEPs, data collection, and clerical duties, while ensuring a safe environment and collaboration with staff and families.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; 1–2 years related experience preferred.
• Must meet No Child Left Behind requirements; experience in a school setting preferred.
• Knowledge of IDEA and related instructional plans; ability to learn quickly.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning and implementing learning experiences; provide feedback on student performance.
• Interpret IEPs and develop lesson strategies based on student needs.
• Instruct students in small groups/individually; adapt plans to meet IEP goals.
• Conduct extensive student testing and report any issues to the teacher.
• Maintain a safe, supportive environment and promote positive student interactions.
• Handle clerical duties including attendance, grading, and records maintenance.
• Assist with communication among students, teachers, and parents.
