Job summary

Ashland Public Schools is seeking an Education Assistant – Special Education Site Based at Ashland High School. This .75 FTE site-based role supports licensed teachers, coordinates IEP-related activities, and assists with instruction in general and special education settings.

Work hours are 6 per day; salary range $20.61–$25.13 hourly; non-exempt status. Experience in school settings and knowledge of IDEA preferred.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school.
• Must meet NCLB requirements and have related school experience preferred.
• Ability to work effectively with diverse students and staff.

Responsibilities

• Assist planning and implementation of learning experiences with feedback to the teacher.
• Interpret IEPs and develop lesson strategies based on student aptitude.
• Instruct students in small group and individual settings with appropriate oversight.
• Conduct student testing and inform the teacher of any issues or progress.
• Promote positive student relationships and safety in the classroom.
• Assist with behavior management and record-keeping as required.
