Job summary

Ledcor is seeking a skilled Mining Engineer to manage ongoing mining projects on-site, coordinating with project managers, mine supervisors, and mine planners to ensure schedules, scope, and budget are met. Your keen attention to detail, effective communication, and organizational abilities will keep the project running safely and efficiently from start to finish.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years in project coordination or mining engineering.
• Strong knowledge of hard rock open pit mining and related processes.
• Proficient with project management software and MS Office, especially Excel.
• Drafting experience and familiarity with mine planning software are a plus.
• Ability to read and interpret mine plans, drawings, and contracts.
• Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
• Excellent communication to coordinate with teams, subcontractors, and stakeholders.
• Knowledge of safety protocols and regulatory compliance.
• Degree or diploma in Mining/Civil Engineering or related field is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and oversee day-to-day operations of mine planning and construction projects.
• Use mine planning software for drill & blast design and overall mining strategy.
• Convert 5-year mine plan and 3-month rolling plan into weekly execution plans.
• Monitor project schedules, budgets, and mine resource allocation with management.
• Facilitate communication between internal teams, subcontractors, vendors, and stakeholders.
• Prepare and track progress reports, change orders, RFIs, and other docs.
• Maintain accurate records of mine activities, including materials and equipment.
• Interpret mine plans, drawings, and specifications to support field crews.
• Perform quantity calculations, production tracking, and daily progress reporting.
• Assist in developing shift plans, work packages, and sequencing for site activities.
• Support surveying tasks, including verification checks and as-built data collection.
• Participate in safety reviews, toolbox talks, and site safety meetings.
• Provide oversight to field operations and contractor activities.
• Perform basic engineering calculations and assist with drafting.
• Organize crews, equipment, and work area logistics.
• Conduct site visits to monitor progress and quality, resolving issues on-site.
• Ensure all work complies with safety regulations and quality standards.
