Job description

Single Plaintiff FEHA Attorney

Career Consulting Partners is proud to partner with a tech-forward, high-impact California employment law firm built on a simple premise: we put the client first, and we fight for workers' rights without fear of the courtroom. We are not a high-volume settlement mill, nor do we litigate to litigate. We evaluate every case through the lens of genuinely helping the individual.

When out-of-court settlement serves our client best, we pursue it aggressively; when justice requires going to trial, we step into the courtroom, even on tough cases where the odds are long, because we treat every trial as a collective learning experience that makes our team stronger, sharper, and more formidable.

We have built a modern legal infrastructure powered by custom AI tools that "prime the walls so you can paint them." Our tech stack handles the administrative heavy lifting, document organization, and initial prep work, freeing you to focus on client strategy, depositions, and trial advocacy. We are looking for an ambitious 2–6-year employment attorney who wants to do meaningful work, grow with us, and become a long‑term pillar of our litigation team.

Responsibilities:
  • Manage a portfolio of single‑plaintiff FEHA litigation cases (discrimination, harassment, retaliation, disability accommodation, wrongful termination) from filing through resolution.

  • Draft complaints, oppose Motions for Summary Judgment (MSJs), and handle complex evidentiary motions.

  • Take and defend key depositions, including plaintiffs, PMKs, supervisors, and expert witnesses.

  • Participate actively in team strategy sessions, contributing ideas and refining legal arguments for colleagues' cases as well as your own.

  • Represent clients in mediations, mandatory settlement conferences, and court appearances. Second‑chair or first‑chair trials alongside senior partners.

Requirements:
  • Active license to practice law in California, in good standing.

  • 2 to 6 years of dedicated employment law litigation experience in California (plaintiff‑side preferred; defense‑side attorneys with a true passion for worker advocacy are encouraged to apply).

  • Solid foundation in the California Fair Employment and Housing Act (FEHA), California Labor Code, CFRA, and California Rules of Civil Procedure.

  • Trial‑ready, team‑oriented, and driven by client outcomes and professional growth rather than just transactional metrics.

  • Comfort leveraging modern legal tech, case management software, and AI workflow tools to maximize efficiency.

Compensation and Benefits:
  • Competitive base salary commensurate with experience ($140,000 – $190,000+ depending on background and track record).

  • Flexible Earning Models: Choose between a high‑base structure or a performance‑focused model with unlimited upside.

  • The Right Fit: On the plaintiff side, success stems from conviction in your cases and confidence in your courtroom abilities. We partner best with attorneys who want an uncapped stake in their success and are excited by the "sky's-the-limit" potential of high‑impact FEHA litigation.

  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance.

  • 401(k) retirement plan with employer contribution.

  • Flexible hybrid work environment and generous PTO policy.

  • Bar dues, mandatory continuing legal education (MCLE), and professional development support.

Why Join Us?
  • Gain hands‑on courtroom and trial exposure backed by a team that views litigation as a craft to be mastered together.

  • Work in a collaborative team dynamic where attorneys come together regularly to brainstorm case theories, prep depositions, and dissect trial strategies.

  • Spend less time on repetitive drafting and administrative noise, and more time practicing high‑level law.

  • We are building for the future. You will have a clear path to leadership and the opportunity to mentor junior attorneys in complex employment law matters.

Location:
  • Los Angeles, CA (Downtown)

  • Flexible Work Schedule: (After 60-day acclimation period)

    • 1 Day Work from Home

    • In addition to the 1-day WFH: any day you're taking or defending a remote deposition, attending a remote mediation, or prepping for either, you are able to work from home.
