Job Overview:
A reputable law firm is seeking an experienced Associate Attorney for Single Plaintiff Employment Litigation. The position is ideal for candidates with 3-7 years of experience defending harassment, discrimination, retaliation, and wrongful termination claims in state and federal courts. The candidate should have strong litigation skills, including experience with discovery, depositions, law and motion work, and mediation. This role offers the opportunity to handle complex employment cases and provide strategic counsel to clients.

Location:

Duties:

  1. Defend single plaintiff harassment, discrimination, retaliation, and wrongful termination claims, charges, and lawsuits in both state and federal court.
  2. Defend complaints and charges before the CRD, EEOC, and/or California Labor Commissioner.
  3. Provide general employment-related advice and counsel.
  4. Prepare and respond to discovery requests.
  5. Conduct and defend depositions.
  6. Engage in law and motion work, including preparing and responding to dispositive motions, motions to compel arbitration, and discovery-related motions.
  7. Prepare case evaluations for clients.
  8. Proactively handle and manage litigation cases.
  9. Prepare for and attend mediations, including drafting mediation briefs.
  10. Attend court hearings, status conferences, and argue dispositive motions.
  11. Participate in arbitration and trial proceedings when applicable.

Requirements:

  • 3-7 years of experience in single plaintiff employment litigation.
  • Proven experience defending harassment, discrimination, retaliation, and wrongful termination claims in state and federal courts.
  • Experience defending complaints and charges before the CRD, EEOC, and California Labor Commissioner.
  • Strong law and motion skills, including dispositive motions and arbitration-related motions.
  • Solid experience with depositions, case evaluations, and preparing mediation briefs.
  • Strong litigation management skills and ability to handle cases proactively.
  • Excellent research, writing, and communication skills.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Must be admitted to practice law in the State of California.

Skills:

  • Strong understanding of employment law, particularly harassment, discrimination, retaliation, and wrongful termination claims.
  • Proficient in legal research and writing.
  • Ability to effectively manage litigation cases from inception to resolution.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of CRD, EEOC, and California Labor Commissioner processes.
  • Experience with arbitration and trial proceedings.
