Job Overview:
A law firm is seeking an experienced Associate Attorney with 3-7 years of employment litigation experience, specializing in single plaintiff cases. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in defending harassment, discrimination, retaliation, and wrongful termination claims in both state and federal courts. This role offers an excellent opportunity to manage cases from start to finish, provide strategic legal counsel, and gain trial and arbitration experience.

Location:

Duties:

  • Defend single plaintiff harassment, discrimination, retaliation, and wrongful termination claims in state and federal court.
  • Represent clients in complaints and charges before the CRD, EEOC, and California Labor Commissioner.
  • Provide general employment-related legal advice and counsel.
  • Prepare and respond to discovery requests, ensuring timely and thorough responses.
  • Conduct and defend depositions as part of case development.
  • Manage law and motion work, including preparing and responding to dispositive motions and motions to compel arbitration.
  • Prepare case evaluations and offer strategic legal guidance to clients.
  • Proactively manage cases, handling all aspects of case preparation and progression.
  • Prepare for and attend mediations, including drafting mediation briefs.
  • Attend court hearings, status conferences, and argue dispositive motions.
  • Gain experience in arbitration and trial settings.

Requirements:

  • 3-7 years of experience in single plaintiff employment litigation.
  • Proven experience defending harassment, discrimination, retaliation, and wrongful termination claims.
  • Experience defending complaints and charges before the CRD, EEOC, and California Labor Commissioner.
  • Proficient in preparing and responding to discovery requests.
  • Strong experience conducting and defending depositions.
  • Ability to manage law and motion work, including dispositive motions and motions to compel arbitration.
  • Arbitration and trial experience preferred.
  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication abilities.
  • Ability to independently manage a caseload while meeting deadlines.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admitted to practice law in the State of California.

Skills:

  • Exceptional legal research and writing skills.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to manage a caseload independently.
  • Proficiency in legal software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
