Job summary

UT Health Sciences in Memphis, TN seeks a Simulation Technologist to maintain and set up simulation equipment in the simulation center and to operate audio/visual systems, under the direction of the Director of Operations, Technology and Business Development.

This role provides technical support for multidisciplinary healthcare simulation, handles equipment inventory and maintenance records, coordinates event setup, and collaborates with Simulation Specialists and course directors.

Qualifications

• Associate degree required.
• Six (6) months of healthcare simulation or related experience preferred.
• Ability to think critically and troubleshoot equipment issues promptly.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and maintains lab equipment and materials for simulation.
• Ensures facility and equipment are set up for simulation events.
• Assists with creation or alteration of simulation equipment (moulage, bandaging, etc.).
• Prepares rooms for simulations and cleans up after events.
• Delivers simulations to Simulation Specialists and course directors.
• Maintains equipment inventory and maintenance records.
• Schedules maintenance to minimize disruption to the event calendar.
• Troubleshoots equipment issues and operates AV systems.

Job Summary/Essential Job Functions

Under the direction of the Director of Operations, Technology and Business Development, the Simulation Technologist is responsible for the maintenance and setup of simulation equipment in the simulation center. This position provides technical skills to support the use of simulation in a multidisciplinary healthcare setting. This position also operates audio/visual systems.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and maintains lab equipment and materials related to simulation.
• Assures that the facility and equipment are set up for the appropriate simulation event.
• Provides assistance with the creation or alteration of equipment for simulation events (moulage, bandaging, etc.).
• Prepares rooms by arranging and cleaning for various simulations.
• Delivers simulations to Simulation Specialists and course directors.
• Maintains equipment inventory and maintenance records.
• Schedules maintenance as appropriate to minimize disruption to the simulation event calendar.
• Troubleshoots immediate issues with simulation equipment and all other equipment used in relation to the simulations.
• Provides routine maintenance, upkeep, and cleaning of all simulation equipment.
• Maintains current knowledge of simulation equipment (status, location, etc.) and operation manuals.
• Expands the field of healthcare simulation and UT Health Science Center’s visibility by networking and collaborating with technicians at peer healthcare simulation programs.
• Serves as an ambassador of UTHSC simulation program at local and regional simulation meetings/conferences.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education

Associate’s Degree. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED)

Experience

Six (6) months of experience performing comparable duties and responsibilities described above; OR a combination of education and related work experience to equal four (4) years. (Experience working in healthcare simulation programs preferred.)

Work Schedule

This position may occasionally be required to work weekends and evenings. Occasional overnight travel may be required.
