Job summary

Trinity Health in Michigan is seeking a part-time patient care simulation specialist to join our contingent team. You will set up and test simulation environments, manage equipment, and support educators during scenarios across satellite locations in the region.

The role requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and experience in patient care or healthcare simulation is preferred. You must be able to stand 90% of the time, lift 30-45 lbs, and work in a dynamic, team-based environment with

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Set up and test simulation equipment and props.
  • Operate simulation and record/stream education materials.
  • Assist facilitators with debrief and learner performance feedback.
  • Prepare lab for next scenario or event.
  • Collaborate with team to improve processes and reduce costs.
  • Maintain a clean, organized work environment including supplies and equipment.
  • Assist with tours and community outreach as needed.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to Trinity Health standards.

Job description

Employment Type: Part time

Shift: Rotating Shift

Description: Contingent team members are required to pick up a minimum of 2 shifts per month.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required.

Experience: Patient Care Technician, EMT, Paramedic, direct patient care or healthcare simulation experience desired.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Ability to work at all satellite locations throughout the region as needed.
  • Ability to problem solve and work collaboratively in a dynamic team setting where priorities are subject to change.
  • Ability to provide and accept feedback related to team and individual performance.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally under pressure.
  • Ability to work as part of an ad-hoc team. Willingness to be flexible in an environment subject to change.
  • Ability to stand and walk 90% of the time. Ability to lift 30-45lbs multiple times a day without assistance.
  • Ability to push, pull and lift equipment, stretchers, beds, and patient manikins.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Conducts pre-simulation activities: Sets up and tests simulation, audiovisual and relevant medical equipment specified in the course materials, places props and assists with moulage. Briefs facilitators and learners, obtains consent to record, ensures all members are signed-in.
  • Executes simulation-based education: Records/streams simulation-based education, operates simulated patient vitals, manipulates simulated vitals based on learner actions and facilitator input, assists facilitator in monitoring learner actions. Performs ad-hoc troubleshooting, offers advice for scenario interventions.
  • Completes post-simulation activities: Collaborates with faculty about learner performance, assists facilitator with video debrief, participates in event debrief offering recommendations for improvement. Prepares lab for next scenario or event. Collects consents, sign-in sheet, and scenario paperwork.
  • Collaborates with team to improve processes: Provides professional, timely feedback to team members including standardized patients, colleagues and management about opportunities to reduce cost, alternative education strategies and process improvement initiatives.
  • Responsible for maintaining a clean and organized work environment, including but not limited to activities such as: cleaning tables, stocking gloves, paper towels, making beds, stocking linen, cleaning computer and clinical equipment.
  • Participates in community outreach & tours: Assists with tours and demonstrations.
  • Maintains good rapport and cooperative relationships. Approaches conflict in a constructive manner. Helps to identify problems, offer solutions, and participate in their resolution. Maintains the confidentiality of information acquired pertaining to patient, physicians, colleagues, and visitors to Trinity Health. Discusses patient and hospital information only among appropriate personnel in appropriately private places.
  • Behaves in accordance with the Code of Conduct, Service Excellence Standards, and the Mission, Vision and Values of Trinity Health. Assumes responsibility for performance of job duties in the safest possible manner to assure personal safety and that of coworkers, and to report all preventable hazards and unsafe practices immediately to management.
