Job summary

Dartmouth Health’s Patient Safety Training Center (PSTC) seeks a hands-on technician to support simulation environments, equipment setup, and event execution. You will prepare, operate, and maintain simulators, room setups, and AV systems for instructional sessions.

Ideal candidates apply with strong problem solving, good communication, and the ability to move equipment and adapt to varying schedules. This role requires daytime weekday availability and a patient-first approach.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required; associate’s degree in technical, computer, or healthcare areas or EMT certification preferred.
  • 2–3 years of work experience demonstrating problem solving skills.
  • Ability to independently move equipment (<25 lbs) and assist with heavier items with help as needed.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills; able to work with students, faculty, staff and customers.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Technical aptitude with ability to learn simulation programs.

Overview

Monday - Friday. 8:00AM -5:00PM.


DH benefits start the first day of employment.


Provides support services in the preparation, operation and maintenance of educational and assessment equipment, sessions and laboratories of the D-H Patient Safety Training Center (PSTC).


Responsibilities


  1. Collaborates with faculty and center personnel to produce, set up, maintain, and organize equipment and materials for specific simulation sessions and events.

  2. Prepares and breaks down simulators, task trainers, skills trainers, simulation rooms, and other equipment/props for lab events.

  3. Performs day-to-day maintenance and cleansing of equipment, simulators, trainers and simulation rooms.

  4. Prepares, programs and operates simulation equipment, and audio visual systems during simulation events, including maintaining simulators, task trainers, simulation rooms and other equipment/props in functioning order through monitoring of appropriate use.

  5. Supports faculty, students and approved visitors in the use of simulation space and equipment.

  6. Maintains connectivity to simulation equipment and audio visual systems, troubleshoot simulation software, hardware and network connectivity issues when needed.

  7. Maintains and stocks sufficient inventory of durable and disposable supplies for lab events.

  8. Supports/assists in role-playing applications, props placement and moulage set-up with manikins and standardized patients.

  9. Inputs daily patient electronic health data for simulated patients in eDH.

  10. Programs software to model simulator’s physiological responses to instructor and simulation development specialist’s specifications.

  11. Assists Operations Manager and Director in other duties as assigned for optimum functionality of Center.

  12. Performs other duties as required or assigned.


Qualifications


  • High school diploma required. Associate’s degree in technical, computer, or healthcare-related areas or certified EMT preferred.

  • Two to three year’s work experience that demonstrates strong problem solving skills

  • Ability to independently move equipment (less than 25 lbs) and move manikins (more than 25 lbs) with the assistance of others.

  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills required; capable of taking direction from superiors, and working with students, faculty, staff and other customers

  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail

  • Excellent problem-solving abilities

  • Ability to adapt to changes in role and schedule in order to best meet the needs of students, faculty, organization and community

  • Technical aptitude with ability to learn simulation programs.

  • Ability to work occasional weekends and evenings required
