Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a software engineer to optimize MATLAB, Python, and C++ simulation models for phased array antenna systems. You will reduce memory footprint and runtime while preserving fidelity, collaborating with RF and DSP engineers.

Responsibilities include profiling, refactoring legacy MATLAB code, implementing high-performance C++ algorithms, maintaining tests, and supporting CI pipelines to validate models. A strong background in numerical methods and scientific computing is required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science.
  • 3+ years of software engineering with MATLAB, Python, and C++.
  • Experience profiling and optimizing computational code for speed and memory.
  • Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and memory management.
  • Familiar with numerical methods and scientific computing.
  • Experience with Git version control.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • U.S. citizenship or eligible work status in the U.S.
  • Preferred: Master's/Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Applied Math, or related field.
  • Preferred: Phased array antenna systems, RF simulation, or electromagnetic modeling.
  • Preferred: MATLAB MEX and MATLAB/C++ co-development.
  • Preferred: Parallel and distributed computing frameworks.
  • Preferred: Beamforming or signal processing background.
  • Preferred: Aerospace/defense or satellite communications experience.

Responsibilities

Job description

  • Optimize MATLAB, Python, and C++ simulation models for phased array antenna systems to reduce memory footprint and simulation runtime
  • Profile and benchmark simulation code to identify performance bottlenecks and implement targeted improvements
  • Refactor legacy MATLAB scripts into efficient, modular, and maintainable codebases
  • Implement high-performance C++ algorithms for computationally intensive antenna and silicon modeling tasks
  • Collaborate with RF and DSP engineers to understand physical models and preserve simulation fidelity
  • Develop and maintain unit and integration tests to validate model accuracy before and after optimization
  • Explore and integrate parallel computing, memory management and data structure optimization, algorithmic complexity reduction, and MEX file development
  • Document optimization strategies, methodologies, and results
  • Support continuous integration pipelines for simulation model validation
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or related field
  • 3+ years of experience in software engineering with MATLAB, Python, and C++
  • Experience profiling and optimizing computational code for speed and memory efficiency
  • Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and memory management
  • Familiarity with numerical methods and scientific computing
  • Experience with version control systems (Git)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • U.S. citizenship or nationality, U.S. permanent residence, or lawful admission to the U.S. as a refugee or asylee
  • Blue’s Standard Background Check
  • Preferred: Master's or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Applied Math, or related field
  • Preferred: Experience with phased array antenna systems, RF simulation, or electromagnetic modeling
  • Preferred: Knowledge of silicon RFIC and DSP design or related hardware simulation
  • Preferred: Experience with MATLAB MEX files and MATLAB/C++ co-development
  • Preferred: Experience with parallel and distributed computing frameworks
