Job summary

SpaceX seeks a Software Engineer, Simulation to advance our in-house multi-physics engine for high-pressure die casting, investment casting, and beyond. You will enable simulations across manufacturing domains, apply ML/AI to accelerate results, and contribute to parts optimization for SpaceX programs.

The role emphasizes strong C++/Python development, HPC awareness, and collaboration with experts in casting, metallurgy, and solidification physics.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, math, or STEM; OR 5+ years of professional software experience.
2+ years of software development in C++, Python, or other OO languages.
Experience with numerical solvers for complex physics domains (OpenFOAM, ANSYS Fluent, COMSOL).
Strong meshing skills and experience with CAD/meshing tools; knowledge of HPC is a plus.

Responsibilities

Own software architecture and quality of simulation software across SpaceX.
Develop and optimize multi-physics simulations; integrate CFD, meshing, and CAD tools.
Build interfaces to view and interpret simulation results.
Troubleshoot issues in software integration, meshing, and accuracy.
Apply ML/AI (surrogate modeling, physics-informed nets) to accelerate simulations.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to add features and automate процессы.
