Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. in Irving, TX is seeking a Simulation Runtime Engineer to develop and support core runtime components and tooling for simulation, digital twin, robotics, and autonomy workloads.

You will work with senior engineers to implement production-quality software for runtime services, APIs, developer tooling, packaging, testing, and performance improvement. Experience with Unreal Engine, Omniverse, Isaac Sim, and related tools is preferred.

Qualifications

• Software development fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, and OO design.
• Experience with Linux, Git, CI/CD, and debugging tools.
• Exposure to simulation/game engines and real-time software is a plus.
• Experience with Docker and cloud environments is advantageous.
• Strong communication, teamwork, and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop, test, and maintain simulation runtime components, libraries, services, and integrations.
• Implement features for startup, lifecycle, configuration, execution, and results collection.
• Integrate with Unreal Engine, Omniverse, Isaac Sim, physics engines, and platform services.
• Create APIs, SDKs, tooling, and command-line interfaces for developers.
• Support packaging, deployment, and release workflows; drive performance improvements.
