Job summary

The Veterans Health Administration, Department of Veterans Affairs in Charleston, South Carolina seeks a Simulation Operations Specialist to lead high‑fidelity, Simulation Department programs within Anesthesia Service.

You will plan, execute and evaluate complex simulation events, integrate AI‑enabled robotics, manage equipment and schedules, mentor staff, and ensure accreditation readiness across multiple specialties.

Qualifications

• Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related
• A transcript must be submitted with your application if you are basing all or part of your qualifications on education
• Only education or degrees recognized by the U.S. Department of Education from accredited colleges, universities, schools, or institutions may be used to qualify for Federal employment
• If using foreign education, you must submit a Certificate of Foreign Equivalency with your transcript

Responsibilities

• The SOS serves as the primary simulator operator and educator, independently planning, executing, and evaluating simulation-based learning events of significant complexity and clinical impact.
• Designs and facilitates scenarios across the full spectrum of simulation modalities and leads structured debriefs using evidence-based frameworks.
• Provides direct operational support for advanced surgical procedure simulations and training programs for complex minimally invasive procedures.
• Designs, configures, and operates simulation environments that replicate the surgical field with high fidelity.
• Supports simulation activities involving AI-integrated surgical robotics and conducts training and workflow gap analyses for robotic systems.
• Operating and troubleshooting AV systems, simulator control software, VR platforms, and AI-integrated tools during live events.
• Develops curricula and competency assessment tools, mentors faculty and trainees, and maintains scheduling and accreditation readiness.
