Job summary

Simon, a Colas USA subsidiary, seeks a Construction Project Manager to lead small to large projects across Wyoming and surrounding markets. You will coordinate crews, review plans, and ensure on-time, on-budget delivery.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years in construction, supervisory experience, and proficiency in MS Office; a valid driver’s license is required with CDL preferred.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in a specialized construction field and/or related industry.
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of construction processes related to area of responsibility.
  • Ability to use a computer and/or mobile device, including MS Office, Android and iOS applications.

Job Summary

Manages small to large construction projects in single or multiple specialty areas. Requires regular communication with internal and external customers such as subcontractors, regulatory agencies, and senior management.

Main Responsibilities
  • Embrace the Company's safety culture, actively support all safety initiatives, and adhere to defined accountabilities implemented by the Simon Steering and Continuous Improvement teams
  • Support, promote, and practice the Company core values, vision, and mission; follow code of ethics, workplace conduct, safety, and other established policies
  • Promote, execute and adhere to the company's safety program, and encourage all employees, sub-contractors and consultants to adopt safe practices as part of Simon's safety culture
  • Work with superintendents and project managers to ensure that assigned projects remain on time and on budget
  • Organize and coordinate the daily activities of assigned crew and equipment pertaining to scope of work, including delegation of tasks, and holding individuals accountable
  • Read and interpret project plans and specifications
  • Understand, interpret, and follow surveying markers and plans including slope stakes, control points, lines, grades, etc.
  • Direct equipment operators to facilitate alignment and movement of materials
  • Coordinate the supply of materials for assigned projects, ensuring timely delivery of materials to project site
  • Support and promote employee training, mentoring, and development; address performance concerns as needed
  • Operate heavy equipment required for project completion; operate company vehicles to move people and equipment between job locations and company facilities
  • Perform skilled work related to specialty area(s) of assigned position, including but not limited to: concrete finishing, utility installation, grading/site preparation, paving, etc.
  • Perform administrative tasks, including but not limited to e-mail correspondence, timecard entry, handling documents and electronic files, etc.
  • Ensure equipment maintenance inspections are completed to maintain equipment in safe operating condition
  • Perform minor servicing and maintenance on equipment; refer major problems to the shop
  • Operate and oversee milling machines, skid steers, loaders, sweepers, rollers, and support equipment.
  • Verify milling depths, cross slopes, transitions, tie-ins, and limits of removal.
  • Supervise daily milling operations and assigned crews.
  • Review project plans, specifications, milling depths, grades, limits, and work requirements.
Education
  • Valid Drivers' License and ability to maintain a clean driving history required
  • Commercial drivers' license preferred
Skills
  • 3+ years of experience working in a specialized construction field and/or related industry
  • Previous experience in a supervisory capacity preferred
  • Demonstrated knowledge of construction processes related to area of responsibility
  • Ability to use a computer and/or mobile device, including use of MS Office, Android and iOS applications required
Physical Requirements
  • Wears and maintains required PPE (personal protective equipment) to ensure safe performance of job responsibilities as required
  • Regularly lifts and/or moves up to 50 pounds with or without assistance to handle materials, tools, equipment, or documents essential to the role
  • Regularly uses hands to move and manipulate objects needed for tool use, equipment operation, and manual tasks
  • Regularly communicates (talk and hear) to coordinate work, receive instructions, and maintain jobsite safety
  • Regularly stands for extended periods and moves across various surfaces or terrain to access different work areas and complete assigned tasks
  • Regularly climbs on and off equipment and walks across uneven terrain to navigate field sites safely
  • Regularly works from a seated position for extended periods to operate equipment and vehicles requiring continuous control
  • Regularly works near moving mechanical parts and experiences vibration from operating equipment
  • Regularly works outdoors in all weather conditions with possible exposure to dust and airborne particles
  • Regularly works near fuels, oils, and other common workplace chemicals associated with operating or supporting equipment and machinery
  • Regularly works in environments that may include loud noise, moving equipment, dust, or varying indoor/outdoor conditions depending on operational needs
  • Frequently stands, walks, sits, reaches, and stoops, kneels, crouches, or crawls to access work areas and complete field tasks
  • Occasionally works at heights, near, or under electrical hazards when tasks require elevated access or proximity to electrical components
  • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and overtime; overnight travel may be required
