Job description

Overview

Broadcom is looking for a Silicon Design and Validation Engineer to perform design, verification and validation of analog and mixed‑signal high‑speed building blocks. The engineer will collaborate with cross‑functional teams to launch ASIC products for data center networking.

Responsibilities

• Design, verification, and validation of analog front‑end circuits, Trans‑Impedance Amplifiers (TIA), PLLs, VCOs, and clocking circuitry.
• Validate and verify clock generation, timing IPs, data converters, and CDR/SerDes.
• Characterize control loops such as PLLs, LDOs.
• Perform signal integrity and power integrity analysis; use PI and SI measurements for debugging.
• Debug bench‑test setups, develop test plans, and report results.
• Collaborate with foundries on PDK integration and develop engineering methodologies.
• Use MATLAB or Python for analysis and debugging.
• Assess design bugs and recommend workarounds.
• Operate measurement equipment such as DCO, real‑time scopes, network analyzers; knowledge of RF and high‑speed probing is a plus.

Qualifications

• M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.
• 6+ years of experience in analog/mixed‑signal IP design, verification and validation for high‑speed data converters, SerDes, data‑center networking and optical I/O.
• Experience with analog front‑end circuits, TIAs, PLLs, VCOs, and clocking circuitry.
• Knowledge of development methodologies, design flows, EDA integration, foundry PDK and associated collateral.
• Experience in test development, debug and reporting.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
• System‑level knowledge of current and next‑generation optical and electrical high‑speed I/Os and interconnect architectures.
• Understanding of IEEE standards for high‑speed optical/electrical interconnects.

Compensation and Benefits

The annual base salary range for this position is $120,000 - $192,000. Qualified candidates are eligible for a discretionary annual bonus and competitive equity grants and annual equity awards.
