Job summary

The Smithsonian National Zoo and Conservation Biology Institute seeks a dynamic Special Events Coordinator to plan, coordinate, and execute advancement events, public programs, and rental activities supporting the Zoo's mission and revenue goals.

You will work with a fast-paced Events team to produce signature events, donor engagements, and community programs, developing skills in event operations, stakeholder engagement, and program administration.

Qualifications

• Experience in event planning or related fields.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders simultaneously.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Plans, coordinates, and executes public programs and events.
• Manages the full lifecycle of facility rentals from inquiry to closeout.
• Develops detailed timelines, run of show documents, and logistics plans.
• Coordinates with internal departments and external partners to ensure seamless execution.
• Prepares analytical reports on metrics and supports budgeting and procurement processes.
