Job summary

Hitachi Rail in Pittsburgh, PA is seeking an enthusiastic Intern - Signalling Engineer for summer 2027. The internship provides exposure to Wayside Signalling Engineering and is based on-site in Pittsburgh.

You will assist in designing interlocking circuits, programming microprocessor devices, preparing project documentation, and supporting test setups. The role includes mentorship, real-world projects, and the chance to build a career with a global leader in signaling and urban transit.

Qualifications

Currently pursuing a 4-year engineering degree.

Responsibilities

Assist in the design of wayside interlocking circuits per design principles and specs.
Assist in programming wayside microprocessor devices per interlocking rules.
Prepare project and design documentation.
Assist with test setup and testing of wayside systems including system integration testing.
Follow established design principles for proper programming of microprocessor devices.
Assist in developing cost estimates for project bids.
