Job summary

Hitachi Rail in Pittsburgh, PA is seeking an enthusiastic Intern - Signalling Engineer for summer 2027. The internship provides exposure to Wayside Signalling Engineering and is based on-site in Pittsburgh.

You will assist in designing interlocking circuits, programming microprocessor devices, preparing project documentation, and supporting test setups. The role includes mentorship, real-world projects, and the chance to build a career with a global leader in signaling and urban transit.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the design of wayside interlocking circuits per design principles and specs.

• Follow established design principles for proper programming of microprocessor devices.
• Assist in developing cost estimates for project bids.

Accountabilities

• Assist in the design of wayside interlocking circuits in accordance with established design principles, procedures, and specifications.
• Assist in programming wayside microprocessor devices in accordance with interlocking rules and all related specifications.
• Prepare project and design documentation.
• Assist with test setup and testing of wayside systems. This includes system integration testing with Carborne, office and other systems.
• Follow established design principles, procedures and specifications as detailed for proper programming of microprocessor devices.
• Assist in developing cost estimates for project bids.
