Job summary

Hitachi Rail is seeking an enthusiastic Intern - Network Engineering for Summer 2027 in Pittsburgh, PA. The role offers real-world projects, mentorship, and exposure to signaling and urban transit technologies.

Current engineering students with coursework in networking/radio and strong communication skills are encouraged to apply. The internship runs May 2027 through August 2027 and is based on-site in Pittsburgh.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of networking and/or radio technologies.
• Broad knowledge of Switching and Routing protocols.
• Broad knowledge of wireless communications.
• Ability to use test equipment.
• Excellent written and oral communications skills and ability to communicate complex technical information.
• Strong relevant technical skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Attention to detail and ability to multi-task.

Responsibilities

• Support execution of design, configuration, test activities
• Maintain an open action items list and produce effective reporting.
• Configure Cisco equipment (switches routers, radios)
• Configure Networks and Fiber Optic Cabling Systems
• Optimization and testing of Radio, network and fibers.

Accountabilities:

• Support execution of design, configuration, test activities
