Job summary

Norfolk Southern Corp. is hiring an Electrical Apprentice Signal Trainee for Williamson, WV. The role involves hands-on training to install, inspect, and maintain rail signal systems, with classroom and field instruction over ~52 weeks.

You’ll join a seniority-based union, bid on positions, and may relocate. On-call work, travel, and a CDL within 90 days are required. Relocation may be needed based on bids; relocation assistance is not provided.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older and legally authorized to work in the U.S.
• High school diploma or GED required; technical certificate/associate degree preferred.
• Class A CDL within 90 days of hire (training provided).
• FRA drug and alcohol screening required.

Responsibilities

• Install, inspect, and maintain signal systems essential to rail safety.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics and diagrams.
• Operate basic hand tools and testing instruments; document inspections and repairs.
• Work safely outdoors and travel extensively during training (up to 75%).
• Be available for on-call work, nights, weekends, and holidays.
