About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and safety-conscious Supervisor to lead a team responsible for the inspection, installation, maintenance, and repair of traffic signals, roadway lighting, pump stations, tunnels, and intelligent transportation systems (ITS). This role includes supervisory responsibilities, project oversight, and quality assurance, with a strong emphasis on electrical and mechanical systems. The ideal candidate will have hands‑on technical experience, leadership capabilities, and a commitment to safety and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and perform maintenance and repair of traffic signals, roadway lighting, pump stations, tunnels, and ITS infrastructure.
  • Manage utility locating (Bluestake) and ensure accurate record‑keeping.
  • Review and interpret plans, blueprints, schematics, and specifications.
  • Approve or recommend materials, repairs, and equipment replacements.
  • Oversee contract management and perform quality assurance inspections.
  • Evaluate employee performance, coach and mentor staff, and administer progressive discipline.
  • Develop and manage unit budgets as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with national and local electrical codes and safety standards.
  • Respond to emergency call‑backs and support 24/7 operations as required.
Qualifications
  • Required:
  • Two years of experience equivalent to a SLATE Technician III.
  • IMSA Certification a plus.
  • Two years of experience in a lead or supervisory role.
  • Valid Arizona Driver’s License at the time of appointment.
  • Must pass a medical/physical evaluation and drug screening.
  • Some positions may require a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with proper endorsements.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical, electronic, and mechanical systems related to traffic infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with national and local electrical codes and safety practices.
  • Experience with project-level planning, coordination, and contract oversight.
Preferred Skills
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical plans and schematics.
  • Skilled in diagnosing and repairing traffic signal and lighting systems.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast‑paced environment.
Work Conditions
  • Exposure to hazards including electricity, traffic, heavy equipment, confined spaces, and extreme weather.
  • Frequent travel and overnight stays may be required.
  • Subject to emergency call‑back and on‑call rotation.
