Job summary

Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) seeks a Signal/Lighting/Electrical Technician to inspect, maintain, and repair traffic signals, roadway lighting, and ITS. Candidates must be able to respond quickly during 24-hour call backs and endure elevated work heights in stressful conditions.

Positions include a 4,000 hiring incentive, with multiple SLATE levels and a strong emphasis on safety, records, and teamwork. Overtime during weather events is possible.

Qualifications

  • Duties include basic electrical, electronic and/or mechanical tasks related to inspection, installation, maintenance and repair of traffic signals, roadway lighting, and ITS.
  • Pre-employment requirements include CDL and IMSA trainings/certifications.
  • Work may involve rotating shifts and responding to duty posts within 30 minutes.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, maintain and repair traffic signals, roadway lighting and ITS.
  • Perform contract management, quality assurance and record-keeping.
  • Coordinate with crew and respond to emergency repairs as needed.
