Job summary

The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) seeks a Signal and Image Processing Engineer to advance electromagnetic system capabilities for maritime and defense missions. You will design, implement, and evaluate algorithms for sensor data to improve detection, classification, and localization in complex environments.

You will prototype techniques in MATLAB or Python, collaborate with engineers and scientists, and contribute from data curation to deployment, reporting results

Qualifications

  • BS degree in electrical engineering, mathematics, physics, computer science, or another related field.
  • Experience applying signal processing, image processing, pattern recognition, ML or DL to extract information from sensors.
  • Prototyping algorithms using MATLAB or Python.
  • Active Top Secret clearance and eligibility for TS/SCI; US citizenship required.
  • Ability to work independently in secure facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and evaluate signal and image processing algorithms to extract information from sensor systems.
  • Develop filtering, detection, estimation, tracking, and classification algorithms using real data in temporal, spatial, and/or spectral domains.
  • Evaluate real-world performance and recommend improvements to boost performance.
