Job summary

The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) in Laurel, MD seeks engineers and scientists with a PhD in technical fields to join our Sensor Systems Group. You will work on cutting-edge radar and sensor systems, develop models, and prototype signal processing algorithms for national security applications.

You will engage with scientists and engineers to deploy ML techniques, analyze large data sets, and test radar systems to meet stringent requirements.

Qualifications

  • PhD or near completion in a technical field related to radar and sensor systems.
  • Strong experience with Matlab, Python, C++, or similar tools for algorithm development.
  • Experience in Aerospace, Hypersonics, Radar, or RF systems.
  • Ability to manage large data sets and apply ML techniques.
  • Experience scripting/coding for radar domain problems and signal processing.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and analyze models of next generation radar and sensor systems.
  • Prototype novel signal processing algorithms for military deployment.
  • Apply machine learning to augment capabilities and data analysis.
  • Fabricate test fixtures to support test events.
  • Apply data science to large-scale datasets.
  • Test radar systems to ensure they meet requirements.
