Job summary

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) invites applications for Engineer – Signal Design within the Long Island Rail Road’s Engineering Department in Queens. You will assist the Principal Engineer Signal Design, manage the Signal Design Group, develop signal engineering plans, and review designs to ensure safe, compliant installations.

Candidates should hold a BA/BS in Electrical Engineering, have about 8 years of railway signaling experience, supervisory experience, and ideally a NYS

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering required.
• Approximately 8 years of progressively responsible railway signaling experience.
• Supervisory/managerial experience required.
• NYS Professional Engineer license preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist Principal Engineer Signal Design to manage the Signal Design Group and oversee project tracking, estimates, and design reviews.
• Provide engineering design, specifications, and standards for LIRR signal systems and support field personnel.
• Review and sign off on capital and third-party designs affecting LIRR signal systems.
• Coordinate with consultants and vendors on designs, submittals, and data.
