Job summary

Wake Technical Community College is seeking an interpreter/transliterator to support Deaf and hearing students in classrooms and other college-approved settings in Raleigh. The role involves interpreting, transliterating, and preparing for sessions by reviewing course materials and vocabulary.

The candidate should have an Associate’s degree in Sign Language Interpreting or related field and hold a NCITLB license or BEI certification.

Qualifications

• Associates degree or higher in Sign Language Interpreting or related field preferred.
• Full or provisional license from NCITLB or BEI certification.
• Ability to interpret/transliterate in classroom and other settings.

Responsibilities

• Provide interpreting/transliterating services for students in classrooms or approved settings.
• Review course materials and prepare vocabulary for classroom interpreting.
• Work as part of a team interpreter in classrooms or meetings; substitute as needed.
• Mentor and provide feedback to less experienced interpreters.
