Wake Technical Community College is seeking an interpreter/transliterator to support Deaf and hearing students in classrooms and other college-approved settings in Raleigh. The role involves interpreting, transliterating, and preparing for sessions by reviewing course materials and vocabulary.
The candidate should have an Associate’s degree in Sign Language Interpreting or related field and hold a NCITLB license or BEI certification.
This position provides interpreting or transliterating services for students at Wake Technical Community College, either in the classrooms or in other college approved settings. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the essential job functions satisfactorily. Promotes disability awareness and helps the school staff, faculty, and students develop positive attitudes toward disabilities
Follows a schedule provided by the Coordinator for each semester
Submits hours on an appropriate basis for payment monthly
Mentors, trains, and provides feedback to less experienced interpreters regarding the enhancement of sign language interpreting skills as needed
