Class Description
The Community College of Baltimore County (CCBC) StudentAccessibility Services (SAS) is seeking qualified candidates forthe role of Sign Language Interpreter . This positionsupports SAS operations by providing high-quality interpreting andtransliterating services to foster academic equity and success forstudents with disabilities. The interpreter will workcollaboratively with the SAS Director, Coordinators, and StudentDevelopment (SD) team to enhance student access andengagement.
Minimum Requirements
- Associate’s Degree in Sign Language Interpreting, Bachelor’s orMaster’s Degrees preferred
- Two years\' experience in interpreting, preferably in anacademic setting
- Knowledge of and adherence to the RID Code of ProfessionalConduct.
- Certification in interpreting (e.g., CDI, NIC,BEI, CI/CT, NAD Level 3-5, Certified/Advanced/Master).
- Reliable transportation and willingness to travel acrossmultiple campuses as needed.

This is an "as needed" position, schedule will vary
Class Specific Essential Duties
- Interpret/transliterate for academic courses ranging from basicto advanced levels.
- Prepare for assignments by reviewing course materials, syllabi,and speaking with faculty, speakers, and students.
- Collaborate with department staff, faculty, administrators, andstudents.
- Accept interpreting assignments at alternative locations asneeded.
- Meet regularly with the Assistant Director/Coordinator toreview student evaluations and staff feedback.
- Assess students’ language and communication needs.
- Mentor fellow interpreters and interns.
- Maintain and enhance interpreting skills, specialized contentknowledge, and interpersonal communication through professionaldevelopment, training, and continuing education.

Adjunct Faculty, PartTime Associates and Full Time employees are eligible to save forretirement using the Roth 403(b) savings feature. Employees maycontribute traditional pre-tax 403(b) dollars and Roth 403(b)post-tax dollars simultaneously. The savings limits are combinedfor the Traditional 403(b) and the Roth 403(b) contributions.
