The Educational Sign Language Interpreter position at Chicago Public Schools supports Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing students within the CPS Deaf or Hard-of-Hearing program. You will interpret classroom instruction and facilitate communication between students, teachers, and staff, reporting to the Principal of the assigned school.

Required qualifications include an Associate degree or 60 college credits and ISBE Sign Language Interpreter Approval.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year interpreting experience or practicum.

Responsibilities

• Accompany Deaf or Hard-of-Hearing to classes and convey instruction via sign language.
• Assist deaf/hard-of-hearing students with daily activities using sign language.
• Interpret responses and facilitate communication between students and instructors.
• Consult with teachers regarding student concerns.
• Other duties as assigned.
