Job summary

BlazerJobs, Inc. is seeking a 1:1 Sign Language Interpreter for a full-time contract in Leonardtown, MD, serving diverse K-12 students.

You will bridge communication between the student and classroom staff, enabling access to all educational content in a supportive school environment.

Qualifications

• Certified Sign Language Interpreter with EIPA score 3.0 or higher.
• Experience with K-12 students preferred.
• Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) and familiar with multiple communication methods.

Responsibilities

Job description

Step into a rewarding contract opportunity supporting a diverse K-12 student population as a 1:1 Sign Language Interpreter. In this full-time role, you will provide essential communication support for a student, helping bridge gaps and foster inclusion within the educational environment. This assignment begins as soon as possible and continues through the end of May 2027.

Desired Qualifications

• Valid certification as a Sign Language Interpreter with an EIPA score of 3.0 or higher
• Previous experience working with school-aged children, preferably in a K-12 setting
• Strong proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and familiarity with various modes of communication
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, therapists, and families
• Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and upholding student privacy

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver one-on-one interpretive support to a designated student across classroom activities, extracurricular events, and school functions
• Accurately facilitate communication between the student, their peers, and school staff, ensuring full access to educational content
• Adapt interpreting style to accommodate individual needs, learning environments, and subject matter

• Collaborate with educational teams to develop and implement effective communication strategies
