Pediatric Developmental Services (PDS) is seeking a full-time Sign Language Interpreter to support a student in a Maryland classroom. The role emphasizes facilitating communication, ensuring accessibility, and collaborating with teachers and staff to promote academic and social success.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate communication: Interpret spoken language into sign language and vice versa to ensure the student can fully understand and participate in classroom activities and discussions.
• Support academic success: Interpret lectures, instructions, and multimedia content to help the student engage with the curriculum.
• Encourage social interaction: Facilitate communication between the student and their peers to support social development and inclusion.
• Provide accessibility: Interpret during extracurricular activities, assemblies, and special events to ensure the student has equal access to all aspects of school life.
• Collaborate with staff: Work closely with teachers, special education staff, and administrators to adapt and implement strategies tailored to the student's needs.

Sign Language Interpreter Responsibilities

• Facilitating Communication: Interpret spoken language into sign language and vice versa to ensure the student can fully understand and participate in classroom activities and discussions.
