Job summary

Young Electric Sign Company in Salt Lake City, Utah, is seeking a Sign Installation Journeyman to install new signs and service existing signs safely and efficiently. You will review plans, determine layout, operate heavy equipment, and coordinate with customers and team members.

The role requires a High School Diploma or GED and several years of construction experience, including electrical understanding and tool operation.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; six+ years in construction including electrical work and reading blueprints.
• Knowledge of NEC electrical codes and LED lighting knowledge is beneficial.
• Ability to operate multiple tools and equipment, maintain safety standards and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Install new signs and service existing signs under supervision.
• Review blueprints and prepare materials for installation.
• Measure layout, mark guidelines and install signs.
• Transport materials to sites and operate heavy equipment.
• Assemble, install and test signs; perform maintenance and repairs.
• Complete installation/service paperwork and obtain customer sign-off.

GENERAL PURPOSE:

Under the general supervision of the Supervisor or Lead, installs new signs and services existing signs efficiently and within budget.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Reviews blueprints, identifies and prepares necessary materials and supplies for sign installation
• Determine layout and installation procedures and measure and mark guidelines to be used for installations
• Drives trucks to transport sign materials to installation sites and load and unload trucks with supplies and equipment
• Assemble and install products utilizing hand and power tools, operating heavy equipment
• May require scaffolding erection and other work platforms
• Performs maintenance and repair to existing signs
• Completes paperwork for installations and service work
• Follows all safety guidelines and regulations
• Obtains completed work sign-off from customers

MARGINAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Cleans and maintains equipment
• Performs other functions as necessary or as assigned

NATURE OF WORK CONTACTS:

• Interacts with customers
• Interacts with installation helpers and apprentices
• Interacts with engineers, production staff, account executives and other departments
