Sarasota County is seeking applicants for maintenance and repair of road right-of-way areas. This role includes responding to maintenance tasks, managing roadway obstructions, and conducting oversight on road and bridge activities.

Respond to maintenance tasks for repairs to road right‑of‑way issues, including sidewalks, curbs, gutters, concrete footers, and foundations.
Bridge maintenance repairs including bridge approaches, wing walls, sidewalks, guardrails, and handrails.
Repair of asphalt and roadway surfaces as required.
Ensure all work is done to Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) specifications.
Provide guidance and conduct labor‑intensive tasks in the repair of asphalt maintenance on county roadways.
Assist with oversight of day‑to‑day Road and Bridge maintenance/construction activities.
Conduct labor tasks to keep roadways clear of obstructions, such as removing debris and hazards from roadways (construction debris and dead animal carcasses).
Conduct manual trimming of trees for proper clearance and site distance problems, using chainsaws, weed‑eaters, pole saws, and manual tools.
Monday – Friday, 6:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. (40‑hour shifts). Overtime may be required according to business needs. On‑call required.
This position may occasionally lift and/or move more than 50 pounds. A handling device (dolly, cart, etc.) or assistance from another team member is required when lifting or moving excessive weight.
Position is subject to passing a pre‑employment substance screening. Failure to pass the required drug screening will result in disqualification for a period of five years.
