Job description

Sidewalk & Driveway Crew Lead | $30–$36/hr

Lead a snow crew clearing sidewalks and driveways storm after storm, earn crew-lead pay, and turn one strong winter into a shot at year-round work.

-When the storm hits, your crew looks to you.

-Lead a team clearing sidewalks, entrances, and driveways.

-Set the pace and the standard on every route.

-Earn crew-lead pay, plus a real shot at year-round work.

-Be the reason properties stay open all winter.

What You'll Own
  1. Lead a crew of two to five clearing sidewalks, entrances, and driveways by hand tools and walk-behind equipment the moment a storm hits.

  2. Set the pace and the standard on every route, keeping your crew moving, thorough, and looking out for one another.

  3. Own your routes end to end, hitting the priority accounts first and working through the rest until every walk and drive is clear.

  4. Communicate through the event, coordinating with dispatch and checking in with property contacts so nothing gets missed.

  5. Train and steady your crew, showing newer team members how to work fast, clean, and smart in tough conditions.

  6. Keep the crew equipped, handling salt, blowers, and hand tools and reporting anything that needs repair.

What You Bring

-Two years of snow removal experience is required, along with some crew-lead or supervisory experience.

-The leadership to run a small crew and keep them coordinated and productive in the middle of a storm.

-A valid driver's license (you will transport your crew and equipment between sites, and your motor vehicle record will be reviewed).

-Strong communication skills to coordinate with dispatch and stay in touch with property contacts.

-This is a seasonal winter role (roughly November through April) with on-call storm response: nights, weekends, holidays, and long shifts when snow hits. We aim to clear our properties within about 12 hours of a storm, so when it snows, we need you and your crew ready.

-The physical stamina to shovel, salt, and snow-blow for extended periods outdoors in cold, snow, and ice, right alongside your crew.

Why Alt's Operation
  • Crew-lead pay of $30-$36/hr, above our standard crew-member rate.
  • Uniforms and PPE provided.
  • Overtime paid at time-and-a-half for hours over 40 in a week.
  • While part time roles do not include benefits, moving to full time would make you eligible for a 401(k) with company match, plus health, dental, life and disability insurance.
  • Keep working past winter: strong crew leads can move into summer roles in lawn maintenance, landscaping, hardscape, or skid steer operation, based on experience and fit.
  • The chance to lead from day one, with a crew that counts on you and a company that builds its leaders from within.
  • Steady storm work with one of the largest snow and ice operations in the area, where snow is nearly half of what we do.
  • A family-oriented company, 13 years in business and growing, where the people who step up in a storm get noticed.
Where You'll Shine

Be the leader your crew counts on when the weather turns. Take ownership of your routes and the people who clear them. And turn one strong winter running a crew into a year-round career with a growing team.
