Job summary

Optimal in Dearborn, MI, seeks a Body Closures Engineer responsible for side door assemblies, part releases, BOM management, and supplier engagement. You will work across the program life cycle, applying Six Sigma, CSQ disciplines, and robust design reviews to meet cost, weight, quality, and timing targets.

You will collaborate with engineering teams to validate prototypes, develop engineering SOWs, and ensure proper part levels, using FEDEBOM, WERS, AIMS, and JIRA to resolve issues during

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience related to Body Closures and Side Door Assemblies.
• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Proficient in CAE analysis and sheet metal stamping feasibility.
• Strong knowledge of Six Sigma (DMAIC) and issue solving.
• Proficient in CATIA and 3DX CAD tools; able to modify parts from CAD repository.
• Experience with BOM management, supplier engagement and change control.
• Familiarity with manufacturing processes like stamping and forging.

Responsibilities

• Release parts in FEDEBOM & WERS throughout the product life cycle.
• Support Change Control Meeting and audit BOM levels and usage.
• Provide technical solutions via AIMS & JIRA resolutions.
• Collaborate with purchasing to identify potential suppliers for localization.
