Job summary

UC Health is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for the 34-bed Surgical/Trauma Intensive Care Unit (SICU) at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center in Cincinnati, OH. The SICU cares for adults requiring surgical interventions and serves as the region’s only adult Level I trauma center.

The RN provides critical care, collaborates with a multidisciplinary team, and supports complex transplant, oncologic, and general surgery patients. Night shift availability is noted.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
• Associate’s Degree is the minimum requirement.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
• Current OH RN License.
• Minimum 1 year critical care RN experience or 1 year critical care co-op experience required.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and coordinates interdisciplinary care plans for each patient with the team and family.
• Communicates the care plan to all team members.
• Gives clear instructions to patients/family regarding treatment and involves family in care.
• Identifies and responds to different patient needs from behavioral health, religious/cultural norms.
• Demonstrates critical thinking, accountability, flexibility, and cooperation on the unit.
• Nursing process documented accurately per hospital policy.
• Acts as a resource and mentor for new staff on the unit.
• Assumes responsibility for personal and professional development and contributes to peers.
