Job Summary
Transports employees and visitors to and from designated locations and provides basic security services.
Essential Functions
- Drive shuttle vehicles, following designated routes and schedules to transport passengers in a timely manner.
- Adhere to all traffic laws and safety regulations while operating the shuttle.
- Assist passengers with boarding and de‑boarding the shuttle.
- Communicate effectively to provide information and directions.
- Maintain the cleanliness of shuttle interior and exterior and the proper fuel supply.
- Monitor activity in parking lots and various areas, frequently performing random patrols of the assigned area.
- Respond safely, effectively, and efficiently (SEE) to all related matters that come to attention and in the performance of activities as assigned.
Education
High School diploma required.
Licensure
Valid Ohio driver’s license and proof of auto insurance required by hospital policy. Must pass a motor vehicle background inspection, insurance eligibility, driving qualifications, and training set forth by Nationwide Children’s Hospital and maintain qualification of insurance guidelines.
Skills
- Proficiency in the safe operation of security shuttle vehicles.
- Ability to read and comprehend hospital/departmental policies and procedures and regulatory publications.
- Sufficient interpersonal skills to effectively interact with all persons, regardless of position, ethnicity, sex, age, or economic status.
Physical Requirements
- Occasionally: Cold temperatures, computer skills, fumes/gases/vapors, hot temperatures, 0‑10 lbs lifting/carrying, 11‑20 lbs lifting/carrying, 21‑40 lbs lifting/carrying, 0‑25 lbs pushing/pulling, 26‑40 lbs pushing/pulling, re‑aching above shoulder, standing, walking.
- Frequently: bend/twist, climb stairs/ladder, flexing/extending of neck, loud noises, squat/kneel, working outdoors.
- Continuously: audible speech, color vision, decision making, depth perception, driving motor vehicles (work required) *additional testing may be required, hand use: grasping, gripping, turning, hearing acuity, interpreting data, peripheral vision, problem solving, repetitive hand/arm use, seeing – far/near, sitting.
