Job summary

Amcor is seeking a Shuttle Driver at our Aurora, OH site within the Logistics department. This hourly role requires adherence to FMCSR hours of service, safe cargo handling, and on-time pick-ups and deliveries.

The position involves vehicle pre/post-trip inspections, load securement, and coordination with dispatch and safety teams. A Class A CDL and hands-on driving experience are essential for success.

Qualifications

  • Valid Class A CDL is required.
  • Must be able to pass pre-trip inspections and safety checks.
  • Ability to operate forklifts and pallet jacks per facility rules.

Responsibilities

  • Transport goods between locations by truck or tractor-trailer.
  • Perform pre/post-trip inspections of tractor and trailer.
  • Inspect and secure cargo; report unsecure loads or damage.
  • Review BOL, maintain POD, and coordinate with dispatch.
  • Communicate with safety, dispatch, and DOT as needed.
  • Load/unload trailers and operate material handling equipment.

LOCATION: Aurora, OH

F.L.S.A. STATUS: Hourly

REPORTS TO: Operations Manager / Site warehouse Manager

1.0 PURPOSE:

To detail specific tasks and responsibilities for the position of Shuttle Driver in order for those persons holding this position to perform their job as safely, effectively, and efficiently as possible.

2.0 SCOPE:

This document is used from date of hire throughout training and as a reference for the Shuttle Driver for tasks to be completed. This document is not all inclusive.

3.0 RESPONSIBILITIES:

Transport goods and freight from one location to another using a truck or tractor-trailer. Complete a pre/post trip inspection on tractor and trailer before and after each trip to ensure safety and functionality. Inspect load to ensure cargo is properly loaded and secured If load is not properly secured notify dispatch and if necessary use straps/load locks for securement Review BOL for accuracy, maintain signed POD for submission to shipping coordinators as required Contact maintenance team and Penske repair hotline when repairs/inspections/certifications are needed for tractor or trailer. Schedule preventative maintenance and repairs with local Lease provider (Penske/Ryder) Contact safety and dispatch immediately after a safety incident (follow Company Accident/Incident process) On-Time pick-up and Delivery from consignee Comply with all traffic laws and FMCSR regulations, including hours of service restrictions. Monitor weather and road conditions to adjust driving accordingly. Manage cargo securement and load distribution to prevent damage or accidents. Submit daily any fuel receipts. Communicate professionally safety department, Company Leadership/associates, other motorists, shippers, receivers, law enforcement personnel, and DOT officers, etc. Pull the 5th wheel release, tandem axle releases and open/close trailer doors in all types of weather conditions. Adjust trailer pin height by turning the metal crank mounted on the trailer in order to move the landing gear upward and downward to position the trailer properly for hooking or disconnecting the tractor to the trailer or operate hydraulic 5th wheel for the same purpose. Ability to adapt quickly according to the road conditions, environment, traffic patterns, weather conditions, and the demands of the job. Work weekends as needed. Any additional duties as assigned by leadership Load and unload trailers (hand/fork truck/pallet jack) Pick/Pack materials for shipping Upon certification at Company, safely utilize powered equipment (reach truck/fork truck/pallet jack.etc) per facility rules and regulations Utilize company WMS (MII) to manage inventory and trailer loading/unloading. Maintain accurate inventory counts Perform cycle counts and physical inventories when bin is filled completed or emptied Assist in breaking down empty gaylords as required Assist other drivers/material handlers as assigned by leadership Do not use power equipment in a facility until certified at that specific location Shuttle equipment to and from repair location as required Open doors utilizing Trailer door strap (peekaboo strap) Chain of tires due to inclement weather (Follow state regulations) Maintain vehicle cleanliness process per Maintenance processes Complete yard checks as requested by leadership

4.0 OTHER DUTIES, AUTHORITY AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible for maintaining a safe and friendly work environment Performs other functions as necessary or as assigned. Assists in warehouse cleaning. Report damages and unsafe conditions. Assist other Material Handlers as needed or directed by Warehouse Manager. Be actively engaged in safety and quality programs Identify and report safety concerns Responsible for the safety of yourself, your co-workers, and environment. Maintain a current non-expired Class A CDL/Valid DOT Medical Cert. Attend all operational/safety meetings as requested by leadership. Pre-shift inspection of forklift Movement of product from trailers into WH utilizing forklift Regular short hauls of finished goods to/from warehouse and customer Validation of inventory in trailers Assist with WH consolidation as needed Post shift inspection of forklift

5.0 QUALIFICATIONS:

Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with co-workers. Moderate organizational skills including the ability to complete multiple tasks simultaneously. Ability to read Standard English text for requirements on pack list. Communicate with persons of various social, cultural, economic and educational backgrounds. Perform effectively in environments with frequent workload changes and competing demands. Able to use simple math to add, subtract, multiply, and divide to determine material calculations. Make appropriate job decisions following standard policies and past precedents. Verbal communication adequate to use a radio and or paging system to contact other coworkers in other areas of the complex. Recognize an emergency situation and take appropriate action. Ability to stand and walk as required during a 12 hour shift. Hearing sufficient to recognize and respond to shouted warnings, alarms, and horns on fork-lifts. Able to frequently lift, push, and pull loads of no more than 35 lbs. without the use of an assisting device. Ability to safely operate a fork-lift in high traffic, low clearance areas while not posing a safety risk to others. Able to climb ladders and steps safely without assistance. Must not be at risk of sudden alterations in consciousness. Possess a valid Class A CDL Required 1 year of verifiable comparable driving experience within the last 3 years to include pulling 53ft trailers Meet the physical qualifications and examination under 391.41 DOT reg. Ability to use TMS and WMS systems.
