Job summary

University of the Incarnate Word (UIW) seeks a Shuttle Bus Driver to ensure safe operation of campus shuttle routes for students and staff. You will provide excellent customer service, comply with DOT and UIW safety policies, and report to the Manager, Vehicle Services.

Four driving breaks occur per shift, with a typical workday Monday–Friday 11:15am–8:15pm, and extended hours as needed. The position requires a valid CDL with Passenger Endorsement, age 21+, and a clean driving record.

Shuttle Bus Driver

UIW Mission

Position Summary

The Shuttle Bus Driver is responsible for the safe operation of gas and diesel shuttle buses to transport UIW students and employees safely on assigned on-campus routes. Drivers are expected to provide excellent customer service in all interactions with passengers and the UIW community, as well as follow all state, city, and university policy and safety regulations. The Shuttle/Bus Driver reports to the Manager, Vehicle Services.

Note that four (4) driving breaks are typical during shift, exclusive of lunch break.

Required Education

High School diploma or its equivalent.

Required Work Experience

One (1) to two (2) years of shuttle and/or bus driving experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Exceptional customer service skills.

Required Certifications, Licenses or Registrations

• Valid Class A or B Commercial Driver License with Passenger Endorsement.
• Must have driving record that is insurable and be at least 21 years of age, as required by UIW's insurance carrier.
• Ability to successfully pass required DOT physical.

Work Hours

Monday through Friday 11:15am to 8:15pm with occasional extended hours when shift coverage is needed.

Physical Demands

• Must have physical strength adequate to maneuver shuttle bus and assist passengers with a disability.
• Must successfully pass a required DOT physical as a condition of employment.
• Note that four (4) driving breaks are typical during shift, exclusive of lunch break.
