Basic Job Functions
- Lead second shift operations of the shredding department, including operation and maintenance of the shredder and downstream processing equipment.
- Manage a team of operators and maintenance personnel, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental policies.
- Develop and maintain production work schedules and support people‑development activities (hiring, training, coaching).
- Coordinate with the Day Shift Shredder Supervisor, Facility Manager, and other supervisors for parts ordering, maintenance scheduling, and preventive maintenance program development.
- Conduct monthly inventory and support long‑range planning and budgeting.
- Demonstrate a hands‑on leadership approach and promote a culture of safety.
Shift Time
4:00 pm – 2:00 am (Second Shift)
Minimum Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Bachelor’s degree in business, management, engineering, or a related field, or at least 3 years of management experience in a heavy industrial or manufacturing environment
- Experience in operations or manufacturing with heavy equipment
- Experience in scrap metal
- Experience in maintenance of mechanical and electrical equipment
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of inventory management, shipping, receiving, and lean manufacturing principles
- Proven ability to communicate with all levels of customers and internal contacts
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency with personal computers, software, spreadsheets, and databases (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Ability to plan, manage, and prioritize work in a changing environment with an organized approach
- Knowledge and experience in mechanical and electrical maintenance and engineering fundamentals
- Experience developing effective preventive and predictive maintenance programs
