Job summary

Weir is looking for a dedicated Shotblast Operator for their Newton, MS location. In this role, you will be responsible for verifying casting hardness, loading and unloading materials, and ensuring compliance with production standards.

Responsibilities

• Verify the hardness of castings and ensure compliance with Manufacturing and Inspection Instructions.
• Safely load and unload castings onto trays for processing.
• Visually inspect each casting for defects and sort castings appropriately.
• Maintain a clean, organized work area to support continuous production flow.
• Follow all applicable MIIs, work instructions, and safety standards rigorously.

What you’ll do

• Casting Verification: Verify the hardness of castings and ensure compliance with all Manufacturing and Inspection Instructions (MII).
• Loading & Unloading: Safely load and unload castings onto trays for processing, using manual handling or approved material handling equipment and lifting aids as required.
• Inspection & Sorting: Visually inspect each casting for defects, properly sort castings by pattern and part number, and identify parts requiring weld repair for quarantine.
• Production Support: Maintain a clean, organized work area and support continuous production flow to meet operational goals.
• Compliance & Safety: Follow all applicable MIIs, work instructions, and safety standards rigorously.
• Additional Duties: Perform other duties within or outside the department as business needs require.
• Travel Requirements: Minimal to no travel expected; role is primarily onsite.

What you’ll bring

Must-haves

• High school diploma or GED.
• Ability to read, write, perform basic math, and communicate effectively.
• Forklift experience and ability to safely operate machinery such as cranes, hoppers, and hoists.
• Physical capability to walk, bend, stand, and manually move parts for 90% or more of the workday.

Nice-to-haves

• Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) certification or ability to attain it.
• Basic computer skills for data collection and reporting.
• Experience in manufacturing or casting environments.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality standards.
