Job summary

Esco Corp. in Newton, MS is seeking a hands-on Fabrication/Welding technician for onsite, full-time work. You will perform metal fabrication, welding, and related maintenance to support facility operations.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in torch cutting, stick welding, and metal fabrication.
• Strong troubleshooting skills and knowledge of plumbing systems and repairs.
• Ability to read, understand, and utilize technical manuals for equipment troubleshooting and repair.
• Commitment to safety and regulatory compliance with sound judgment and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Fabrication and Welding: cut, weld, and assemble metal components per work orders.
• Facility Repairs and Maintenance: diagnose and repair plumbing and septic systems; perform preventive maintenance on pumps and motors.
• Inspections and Safety Checks: inspect fire systems and safety equipment; document data accurately.
• Operational Support: assist with electrical and other non-primary jobs to improve facility operations.
• Safety First: uphold a zero-harm safety culture.

What you'll do

• Fabrication and Welding: Perform metal fabrication work such as guards, handrails, hanging stands, and basic step platforms. Daily tasks include cutting with a torch, stick welding, and replicating or fabricating items needed for work order completion. Success means delivering high-quality, durable fabrications that support facility operations.
• Facility Repairs and Maintenance: Conduct plumbing and septic system repairs by diagnosing issues, replacing defective parts, and reinstating disconnected systems. Perform preventive maintenance on equipment such as pumps and motors to ensure operational reliability.
• Inspections and Safety Checks: Carry out inspections on fire systems, sling chains, and other critical safety equipment to support operational safety and compliance. Create and execute thorough inspection forms with accurate data records.
• Operational Support: Assist with electrical and other non-primary jobs as needed, contributing to the overall upkeep and improvement of the facility environment.

What you’ll bring

Must-haves:

• Experience with facility equipment maintenance including oil/water systems and collection areas.
• Familiarity with performing basic safety equipment inspections for lifting devices.
• Ability to create and maintain accurate data records and inspection documentation.
• Previous experience working in a mining or industrial facility environment
