Job summary

Weir in Newton, MS is seeking a Manufacturing Quality Engineer to own process control systems, lead CAPAs, and drive quality improvements. You will work with design engineering, manufacturing operations, and technical teams to qualify new products and support tooling development.

You will maintain rigorous data integrity in ERP, create clear technical documentation, and coordinate trials to ensure successful transitions from development into production.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related technical field is required.
• 3+ years of industrial/manufacturing engineering experience in production environments.
• Proficiency in process controls, control plans, root-cause analysis and data analytics.
• Experience with ISO quality systems and quality assurance programs.

Responsibilities

• Own process control system issues and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
• Conduct inspections, audits, defect analysis, and root cause investigations using problem-solving tools.
• Lead initiatives to reduce process variation and improve quality control methods.
• Collaborate with design engineering, manufacturing operations, and other teams on new product introductions and tooling.
• Create and maintain technical documentation including procedures and work instructions.
• Maintain ERP data accuracy for BOMs and Routings and coordinate data entry.
• Coordinate, witness, and document manufacturing trials and transitions from development to production.
• Support safety culture and travel to other sites as needed.

What you’ll do

• Process Control & Improvement: Take ownership of process control system issues, develop and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA), and verify their effectiveness to ensure consistent quality and operational stability.
• Quality Assurance & Audits: Conduct inspections, audits, defect analysis, and root cause investigations using systematic problem-solving tools such as 5-Why, Fishbone, and PDCA to drive continuous improvement.
• Process Variation Reduction: Lead initiatives to reduce process variation by defining and implementing key strategies that improve quality control methods, reduce risks, and meet cost, quality, and delivery targets.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with design engineering, manufacturing operations, technical teams, plant scheduling, and development center teams to support new product introductions, foundry tooling development, and process qualification activities.
• Technical Documentation: Create and maintain clear, accurate technical documentation including procedures, work instructions, and user guides, ensuring all manufacturing instructions and specifications are up to date.
• Data Integrity & ERP Management: Maintain full ownership of ERP data accuracy for Bills of Materials (BOM) and Routings, coordinating timely and precise data entry to support manufacturing processes.
• Manufacturing Trials & Validation: Coordinate, witness, and document manufacturing trials, reporting results and supporting the transition of products and tooling from development into production, ensuring post-launch targets are met.
• Safety First: Demonstrate 100% commitment to our zero harm behaviors in support of our drive towards developing a world-class safety culture.
• Travel: Minimal travel may be required to other sites.

What you’ll bring

Must-haves:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Material Science, Industrial Engineering, or related technical field.
• 3+ years of industrial/manufacturing engineering experience in a production-based environment, preferably foundry or heavy manufacturing.
• Proficiency in process controls, control plans, root cause analysis, and data analytics with demonstrated ability to lead problem-solving teams.
• Experience with ISO compliance systems and quality assurance programs.

Nice-to-haves

• Familiarity with foundry casting processes and 3D CAD/casting simulation tools.
• Experience with industrial controls and technology systems.
• Project management experience.
• Ability to multitask and influence change in a dynamic manufacturing environment.
