Qualifications

• Minimum five years of professional educator experience.
• Experience as Athletic Director is a plus.
• PA Standard Application, transcripts, clearances required.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day leadership and supervision of the district's athletic programs during the AD's absence.
• Coordinate and communicate effectively with coaches, student-athletes, families, and school staff.
• Oversee equipment care, storage, and replacements.
• Address scheduling conflicts and facilities issues.
• Work with athletic office staff to ensure events are staffed and conducted safely.
• Monitor building safety during evening events and ensure doors are secure.
• Collaborate with trainers, coaches, and families to ensure medical and participation requirements are met.
• Promote sportsmanship, equity, and character across all programs.
• Record game results for district rankings where applicable.
• Handle cash boxes and related financial duties for events.
• Work according to the athletic events schedule.

This is a short-term substitute need from approximately October 19, 2026 through January 6, 2026.

Job Overview

The Palmyra Area School District is seeking a short-term substitute for our Athletic Director for the Palmyra Area School District athletic department. Applicants should have a strong knowledge of school athletics, have experience working with middle school and high school students, possess strong communication and conflict negotiations skills, and display an ability to work in a collaborative manner. This is a great opportunity for an applicant with a principal certification to gain some experience!

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include general support and leadership for the athletic department, student athletes and staff. During this short-term assignment, here are some of the tasks that will need to be completed:

• Day-to-day leadership and supervision of the school's athletic programs during the athletic director's absence.
• Communicate effectively with coaches, student-athletes, families, administrators, teachers and visiting schools.
• Oversees the care, maintenance, storage and replacement of athletic equipment and supplies
• Address any scheduling conflicts, facility issues, weather-related concerns, and other operational matters.
• Work in coordination with athletic office assistant ensuring events are properly staffed, supervised and conducted in a safe manner.
• Monitor building safety during evening including no propping or wedging of doors.
• Collaborates with athletic trainers, coaches, and families to ensure student-athletes meet required medical, insurance, and participation requirements.
• Promotes positive sportsmanship, equity and character development throughout all athletic programs.
• Input game results to District III power rankings for basketball and wrestling.
• Responsible for any HOME fall post-season playoffs and winter events.
• Familiarize yourself with our scheduling software Arbiter Sports which also includes paying game officials.
• Responsible for issuing and collecting all cash boxes.
• Normal working hours are based on athletic events schedule.

Qualifications

• A minimum of five (5) years successful experience as a professional educator.
• Previous experience as an Athletic Director is a plus!
• PA Standard Application, letter of interest, resume, transcripts, copy of certificate, 3 reference letters, PA Child Abuse Clearance, PA Criminal Record Check, and FBI Background Check.
