Job summary

Komatsu Mining Corp. is seeking a Shop Welder to fabricate, assemble, and repair structural components for large mining machinery at our Virginia, MN facility. The role requires experience with FCAW, blueprint interpretation, and welding to AWS D1.1 standards.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years of uninterrupted experience using FCAW.
• Proficiency in multiple welding processes and blueprint reading.
• Strong understanding of AWS D1.1 welding code and related standards.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to strict safety protocols and wear proper PPE.
• Interpret blueprints, schematics, and welding procedure specifications to determine welding sequences and layouts.
• Prepare metal components by cutting, grinding, and shaping to precise measurements using thermal and mechanical tools.
• Perform welding processes to join structural steel or alloy parts in various positions.
• Inspect and test welds visually and via nondestructive testing to meet quality standards.
• Select appropriate metals/alloys and troubleshoot welding issues.
• Set up, operate, and maintain welding equipment and adjust parameters.
• Collaborate with engineers, fabricators, and other trades to ensure proper alignment and fitup before welding.
• Maintain detailed records of welding activities and inspection results for project documentation.
