Job summary

Westinghouse Electric Company is seeking a Shop Technician I on the Mechanical Product team at our New Stanton, PA facility. You will perform machining, mechanical assembly, and inspection tasks, following standard procedures, with work checked for quality during training status.

Reporting to the Assistant Area Manager, Breaker Shop, you will progressively gain independence, communicate clearly, and support electrical and mechanical diagnostics as you learn the processes on site 5 days a week.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• 1+ years experience in electrical, mechanical, machining or inspection.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• US DoL Journeyman Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Verify basic dimensions with measuring instruments and analyze specifications to determine tooling.
• Comprehend fundamentals of mechanical parts and equipment and machine metal work pieces, tools or parts.

About the role:

As a Shop Technician I on our Mechanical Product team, you will perform multiple assignments in support of machining, mechanical assembly, repair, refurbishment of equipment, components or tooling systems. You will perform electrical, mechanical and visual inspections following standard procedures, and will need to communicate information that requires little explanation or interpretation. Initial assignments are in a "training status" and all work is to be checked for quality and accuracy. Independent decision-making ability increases as experience is gained.

You will report to the Assistant Area Manager, Breaker Shop, and will be located at our New Stanton, PA facility. This is an anchor position that is required on site 5 days per week.

Key Responsibilities:

• Verify basic dimensions with measuring instruments and/or analyze specifications and determine tooling by applying knowledge of metal properties, machining technique, and mathematics.
• Comprehend basic fundamentals of mechanical parts and equipment, and/or machine metal work pieces, tools or parts.

Qualifications:

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• 1+ years relevant experience with demonstrated electrical, mechanical, machining or inspection skills.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Specific knowledge of electrical or mechanical drawing, or machining plus required mathematics.
• United States Department of Labor Journeyman Certification preferred.

We are committed to transparency and equity in all of our people practices. The base salary range for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications and skills, is estimated to be $49,533.76 to $63,440.01 per year.
