Job summary

Westinghouse Electric Company is seeking a Shop Technician II for the New Stanton, PA facility. You will perform machining, assembly, and refurbishment of equipment, conducting inspections and communicating findings with minimal interpretation.

This role starts in a training status and progresses with experience. The position reports to the Assistant Area Manager, Mechanical Product, and requires on-site work five days a week.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • 2+ years relevant experience with demonstrated electrical, mechanical, machining or inspection skills.
  • Specific knowledge of electrical or mechanical drawing, or machining plus required mathematics.
  • United States Department of Labor Journeyman Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Verify semi-complex dimensions with measuring instruments and analyze specifications to determine tooling.
  • Comprehend advanced fundamentals of mechanical parts and equipment, and machine metal work pieces, tools or parts.
  • Set up and operate machine tools, surface grinders, lathes and milling machines.
  • Program, Set-Up and Operate CNC Machine Tools.
  • Design and fabricate fixtures for machining.
  • Maintain ANSI Level I Certification for Mechanical Testing and Inspection as applicable.

About the role:

As a Shop Technician II on our Mechanical Product team, you will perform multiple assignments in support of machining, mechanical assembly, repair, refurbishment of equipment, components or tooling systems. You will perform electrical, mechanical and visual inspections following standard procedures, and will need to communicate information that requires little explanation or interpretation. Initial assignments are in a "training status" and all work is to be checked for quality and accuracy. Independent decision-making ability increases as experience is gained.

You will report to the Assistant Area Manager, Mechanical Product, and will be located at our New Stanton, PA facility. This is an anchor position that is required on site 5 days per week.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ability to verify semi-complex dimensions with measuring instruments and/or analyze specifications and determine tooling by applying knowledge of metal properties, machining technique and mathematics.
  • Comprehend advanced fundamentals of mechanical parts and equipment, and/or machine metal work pieces, tools or parts.
  • Set up and operate machine tools, surface grinders, lathes and milling machines.
  • Program, Set-Up and Operate CNC Machine Tools.
  • Design and fabricate fixtures for machining

We are committed to transparency and equity in all of our people practices. The base salary range for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications and skills, is estimated to be $53,977.37 to $69,693.52 per year.
