Job summary

Voith US Inc. is seeking a Shop Technician to repair customer equipment in a clean, safety-focused shop in Houston. The role involves disassembly, inspection, and reassembly with repaired parts to meet deadlines, with emphasis on safety, quality and productivity.

Training is available for candidates with mechanical background from rotating equipment maintenance. The position is day shift, Monday–Friday, 40 hours/week, with possible field work and customer-site travel as needed.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience with industrial gear and rotating equipment.
  • Ability to read blueprints and use precision measuring equipment.
  • Mechanical assembly skills.
  • Proficiency with hand, electrical and air operated shop tools.
  • Knowledge of shop practices, machines and related equipment.
  • Strong organizational skills to handle multiple tasks.
  • Analyze problems and develop solutions independently or with teams.
  • Basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble and repair machinery, including gearboxes, fluid couplings, torque converters, pumps, and others.
  • Read drawings and document precision measurements.
  • Utilize crane/hoist, lift trucks, hand tools and power tools.
  • Trouble shoot equipment reliability issues.
  • Perform work assignments in a timely and accurate fashion.
  • Understand and apply quality of workmanship required for each job.
  • Participate in a culture of continuous improvement in both safety and processes.
  • Other duties as assigned.

THIS POSITION IS DAY SHIFT M‑F, SHOP TECH 1 PAYS $26.00-$28.00 SHOP TECH2 PAYS $30.00-$35.00SHOP TECH LEVEL DEPENDS ON YOUR AMOUNT OF EXPERIENCE
Summary:

Responsible for repairing customer owned equipment according to Voith specifications by disassembling and inspecting units that are returned for repair or overhaul. The technician reassembles with repaired or replaced parts to meet customer deadlines, with a commitment to safety, quality, and productivity standards. Communication and flexibility are key attributes of a successful candidate.

We are willing and eager to train candidates with demonstrated mechanical experience from rotating equipment maintenance and similar roles.

This position is primarily shop-based, and hours will be Monday‑Friday, 40 hours per week. However, occasional field service work may be required. Candidates should be willing to travel to customer sites on as‑need basis.

Physical Requirements
  • Prolonged periods standing and performing repetitive tasks.
  • Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds at a time.
  • Must have manual dexterity to assemble products or machines as directed.
  • Must have excellent hand‑eye coordination.
  • Ability to differentiate between colored wires, tabs, and electronic components.
  • Must wear gloves and ear protection.
