Role Overview: Shop Technician 1 in Quality Inspection performs inspections, examinations, and tests according to documented procedures and industry standards. This is an entry-level role involving routine analyses of components, in-process materials, and finished products to ensure conformity to specifications. The role involves following standard procedures, working under close supervision, and gradually increasing decision-making responsibilities as experience is gained.

Major Responsibilities

• Perform inspections, examinations, and tests using appropriate tools and equipment.
• Conduct mechanical inspections, including physical measurements and operating 3D coordinate measuring machines.
• Perform electrical inspections, including operating electrical test equipment, visual inspections, and verifying assembly standards.
• Identify defects, verify calibration status of equipment, and manage outgoing delivery documentation.
• Follow safety training requirements and complete certifications as needed.
• Maintain quality and accuracy in all tasks, proactively resolve issues, and seek continuous improvement opportunities.

Knowledge & Experience

• Minimum 0-2 years relevant experience in electrical, mechanical, machining, or inspection skills.
• Preferred: Nuclear industry experience.
• Education: High School diploma or equivalent; an associate degree related to electrical, mechanical, or machining fields is preferred.
• Certifications: Qualification and certification for inspection per ANSI N45.2.6, VT-1, or U.S. Department of Labor Journeyman Certification are preferred.
